Hi I would like to wish all Durham girls a very happy and successful season of golf in 2010.Hopefully you haven’t been too despondent about the recent bad weather. It is always frustrating when faced with closed golf courses during your holidays. Hopefully by the February half term the weather will have improved considerably.
I hope this year proves as successful as last year for Durham girls. Many of you significantly reduced your handicaps. We had 12 coaching groups last year and we are hoping to increase this in 2010. At the moment there are 3 Academy coaching groups, these are organised by the Durham Golf Partnership. Try to keep in touch with what is happening in the partnership by using their website and looking at the Events Calendar www.durhamgolfpartnership.com If you are interested in joining one of the coaching sessions please let me know and we will do our best to find a coaching group suitable for your ability. You do need to be a member of a Durham County Club to receive coaching.
Our last competition at Cocken Lodge was very successful. The winners were Rebecca Gibson, Holly Hirst and Isla Hewitson. Well done to all of you.
And a special thank you to our Captain last year who organised the sponsorship and to the team leaders who wore fancy dress costumes and raised nearly £1,000 for Durham Girls.
Please look at the Junior Fixture List on this website. You can download entry forms from the website from March 1st or ask your home club secretary for an entry form. I hope you will all be able to take part in the competitions organised for the Junior Girls this year. Saturday March 27th is our first event at Cocken Lodge (3 man team). Hello my name is Hayley Spence and I am your new Junior Captain for 2010. I am a member at the Hobson Golf Club in Burnopfield where I am also Junior Captain. I am really looking forward to being your Junior Captain and can’t wait to see what this season brings. I wish you all the best for 2010 and let’s hope this year is a good one. |
