DCLGA Championship 2022

It was a blustery, cold and damp morning at Seaton Carew for the semi-finals of the Championship (typical North East weather really!). Despite the conditions some great golf was played with Ella Crang of Wynyard Golf Club beating Morgan Bailey of South Moor Golf Club 5 & 4. It was a closer match between Amy Sutheran of Wynyard (who got the lowest gross score in the qualifying round) and Stacie Morton of Hobson with Stacie eventually coming out on top 2 & 1.

The final was another close affair and although Ella was never down to Stacie, she never had more than a two hole lead at any point, and for most of the match there was only one hole in it. By the time they came to the 17th tee the weather had improved considerably, the sun was shining and Ella had managed to go 2 up. However, the match was by no means over with Stacie winning both the 17th and 18th to take to final to extra holes. Both players managed to get close to the hole with their first putts on the extra hole and it was a case of who could hold their nerve and hole those awkward length putts. Stacie missed hers which meant that Ella had the chance to hole her putt for the Championship. You could see the relief on her face as the ball fell into the hole.

Many congratulations to Ella Crang on becoming the DCLGA Champion for 2022.
