Today can only be a day for looking forward, it’s officially the start of British Summer Time and our golf courses are on the eve of re-opening. It may be too good to be true but tomorrow’s weather forecast is a sunny 19 degrees with a moderate breeze, let’s hope so for anyone lucky enough to have a tee-time booked!!
Although keen to be able to play again, the general consensus seems to be one of anxious anticipation with regard to that drive from the first tee, positive thoughts, head still, follow through and you’re off, enjoy.
We have so much to look forward to now that our club and county golfing fixtures are becoming a reality and it’s a great time to launch a brand new DCLGA website -
www.durhamladiesgolf.org.uk the new site provides information on the years’ upcoming fixtures for both ladies and juniors and will continue to be updated once results become available.
Our Club Delegates met over the week-end, via Zoom and were extremely happy to welcome Lauren Spray, England Golf’s Women & Girls in Golf Manager onto the call. Lauren updated everyone with news of all the exciting initiatives being organised by England Golf some old and some new. Club Delegates will be updating their Ladies Committees with details of how we can all try to grow participation and membership in our ladies sections.
Must dash, I’m off to check my battery is charged, clubs and shoes clean - can’t wait.
Hope to see you all soon.
Sue Wright
DCLGA Vice Captain
