Pat Park

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of past DCLGA Captain Pat Park.

Pat was a member at Dinsdale over 45 years ago and was very welcoming and encouraging to new golfers and then moved to Barnard Castle Golf Club. She was a very keen competitor and had been to a school where competitive sport was important and this came through into her golf.

Pat was DCLGA captain between 1990-1992 and can be seen below in the team photograph from County Match Week in 1988 second from right in the front row. Players from that era remember her going about things in a quiet and unassuming way and being very supportive helping the new players to overcome their nerves.

Many years ago Pat asked Anne Biggs to do something for the County, which she did. Pat wished to be anonymous and her act has given much pleasure to many people over the years. Perhaps now we can say a belated "thank you".

When she was no longer able to play golf she concentrated on bridge and played with Wendy Mitchell in her bridge 4 playing online which she loved. Pat sold her house in Hurworth a couple of years ago and moved into Middleton Hall Care Home where she was very happy.

Her pride and joy were her family, much to her delight she had recently become a great grandmother.

She took ill very recently and fortunately died peacefully. Wendy saw her a couple of weeks before she died and reported that she was very frail but still the same lovely Pat with a fantastic sense of humour.

Pat's funeral will be held on Tuesday October 13th at 2.30pm at Croft Church.
