Mary Vine

Thank you all for entering the Mary Vine County Competition.

It is a remarkable coincidence that as the Durham County Ladies Golf Association celebrates it’s centenary, Mary would also have been 100 years old.

For those of you who did not have the privilege of meeting Mary here is her personal honours board:-

•Chairman of the English Ladies' Golf Association Northern Division

•Captain and President of the Durham County Ladies' Golf Association

•Secretary and Captain of the Veteran Ladies' Golf Association

•President of the Lady Captains' Society

Mary worked tirelessly to promote junior golf at both her home club of Durham City and also within the county.

She was rewarded for her hard work when in 2006 she was awarded the Henry Cotton Award for services to golf.

The Vine Trophy is played in her memory.

Mary died in 2011
