County Match Week 2022

This year County Match week is being hosted by Cheshire at Heswall Golf Club. For the first time the Northern Region is running this competition over 2.5 days with each County playing 2 others on each of the days. There are just 3 singles and 2 foursomes matches in each session.

Day 1 Morning v Lancashire

Unfortunately Durham had a very tough draw on the first morning and lost to Lancashire 4-1 with Jess Hall winning her singles match 3-2 and Brittany Hall losing on the 18th The foursomes were closely fought affairs with Lancashire just coming out on top in both of them.

Day 1 Afternoon v Northumberland

In the afternoon Durham were up against local rivals Northumberland and we were beaten 5-0 although it was closer than the score line may suggest as 3 matches went to the 17th greens.

Day 2 Morning v Yorkshire

Another tough match against Yorkshire where Durham again lost 5-0 although again the games were quite close with 2 of the singles matches lost on the 18th and one of the foursomes matches going to the 17th green.

Day 2 Afternoon v Cumbria

A much better afternoon and Durham convincingly beat Cumbria 5-0 to get onto the scoreboard.

Day 3 Morning v Cheshire Durham's final match in the new format of County Match Week was against hosts Cheshire. A home advantage proved decisive as Durham were beaten.

Overall everyone enjoyed themselves and Durham ended up in 5th place with the youngsters on the team especially playing very well.
