Durham Win Ballingall Shield

The annual challenge match between the Durham and Northumberland squads took place today at the City of Newcastle Golf Club. Four pairs played 4BBB off scratch for the Ballingall shield.
The conditions were very blustery which made playing extremely difficult. All the matches were very close with every one finishing on the 17th green with a 2&1 win. However, Durham managed to secure 3 of those wins against Northumberland's 1 and so won back the shield.
Many thanks to Northumberland for hosting the match and to everyone at City of Newcastle golf club who made us feel very welcome and provided a course in excellent condition. We look forward to trying to retain the shield next year.
