Captains' Society Match v Northumberland

The Annual Match between the Lady Golf Captains’ Societies of Durham and Northumberland was played at Tynemouth Golf Club on July 15th. The Durham team was selected from the 16 leading qualifiers in our Spring Meeting and four Committee officials. Northumberland fielded four Committee officials and 16 volunteers. Due to unforeseen injuries and illnesses, Durham had to find three last-minute substitutes. We are extremely grateful to those ladies who stepped in at very short notice.

We were blessed with perfect golfing weather, not too hot, bright or windy (and no rain!!) Everyone was in good spirits and, whatever the results, enjoyed the game.

Northumberland Captains’ Society and the staff and members of Tynemouth Golf Club made us very welcome. The course, which was in excellent condition, proved quite challenging but Durham rose to the occasion and won 7-3.
