COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
The County Championship was finally completed today with the final match between Ella Crang of Seaton Carew Golf Club and Kayla Hall of Durham City Golf Club. While warm sunshine had been expected, the players instead faced light drizzle throughout the round. Ella secured the title with a 3&2 victory on the 16th hole. FOUR-BALL BETTER BALL
Congratulations to Diane Clark and Christine Constable from Blackwell Grange, who won the Four-ball Better Ball at Darlington with an impressive score of 68. Sue Jones and Melissa Jones (pictured) from George Washington came 2nd with 70. Best Gross was won by Margaret Nisbet and Lis Greenwell from Castle Eden with 85. County Match Week Squad Announced
County Match Week is being held at Eaglescliffe this year from Sunday 7th June (practice round) until Wednesday 10th June. The team from Durham will be playing each of the other 5 Northern Division Counties over the 2.5 day event. The squad was announced today after the first two knockout rounds of the Championship had been completed (the semi-finals will be held tomorrow evening with the final on Thursday evening at Brancepeth). Viv Atkinson
It is with regret that we inform you that Viv Atkinson died yesterday, peacefully in hospital with her family by her side. Viv was a member at Whitburn Golf Club from the early 1970s. She played regularly on the teams, was Lady and Club Secretary at Whitburn and moved on to both DCLGA committee as well as the Past Captain's Society where she served as both Secretary and President. An active supporter of golf from Club to County for many years. She is remembered with fondness

DCLGA Championship
Unfortunately Brancepeth Castle Golf Club was closed today due to the overnight rain and therefore we have been unable to start the knockout phase of the Championship today as planned. They cannot accommodate all the tee times that we require to hold the first matchplay round tomorrow and therefore we are looking to re-schedule. Greener Cup
It was a beautiful day at Brancepeth with plenty of sunshine and very little wind. The Greener Cup was won by Val Brown of Brancepeth, with an impressive 38 points. Sonya Stephenson of Chester-le-Street finished 2nd with 32 points. Janine Lutz, also representing Brancepeth, was awarded the Lillian Bennett Trophy for best gross. Spring Waltz
Many congratulations to the team of Linda Hicks, Barbara Hillier and Liz Musto from Ingleby Barwick who won the Spring Waltz at Sharpley. They played very well and had a great score of 81 points. Sue Kiddle, Jan Turner and Jennifer Dixon also played very well with a score of 77 points to come second. Many thanks to everyone who took part and for Sharpley who made us feel so welcome. Vine Trophy - Entries Closed
50 teams have now entered the Vine Trophy to be held at Durham City Golf Club on Monday 1st June. In order to fit everyone in, the tee times will need to run from 08:30 until 15:00. Therefore entries are now closed as it is likely that the final groups will not finish their rounds until after 7pm.

Boldon Nominated for England Golf Award
Boldon Ladies were nominated in the Women and Girls' Trailblazer category at the England Golf Awards, although they didn't win they had a fabulous time. Pam Twinn (nee Dinning)
It is with great sadness that we let you know that we have been made aware that Pam Twinn (nee Dinning) has died. Pam joined Ryton as a junior with her mother, father and younger brother Guy; often accessing the then 9 hole course by crossing over the railway line rather than using the longer way round by road! Her first successes in club competitions came in 1956 (winning the Calcutta Cup and Jubilee Vase), during which year she also won the Durham County Greener Cup and C
