COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

The County Championship was finally completed today with the final match between Ella Crang of Seaton Carew Golf Club and Kayla Hall of Durham City Golf Club.

While warm sunshine had been expected, the players instead faced light drizzle throughout the round.

Ella secured the title with a 3&2 victory on the 16th hole.

This marks Ella’s second County Championship title, having previously won in 2022 when the event was held at Seaton Carew Golf Club. At that time, she was a member of Wynyard Golf Club.

Runner-up Kayla Hall received the 1972 Morton Trophy along with the silver medal.

The other semi-finalists were Alice Atkinson of Durham City Golf Club and Millie Hixon of Wearside Golf Club. Millie was also the leading qualifier after 36 holes and the leading junior qualifier.

The Best Net Qualifier prize went to Sorcha Bond from Eaglescliffe Golf Club.

Congratulations to all the winners, and sincere thanks to the helpers, organisers, and Brancepeth Castle Golf Club for accommodating the rearranged matches. Due to severe weather and course closure, the last 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final all had to be rescheduled.
