Durham Junior Girls claim an away draw to Yorkshire

Durham Girls took on Yorkshire at Saltburn Golf Club on Thursday 23 July 2026.

In perfect sunny conditions both teams played some exceptional golf with Durham claiming a hard fought 4 – 4 draw.

The close nature of the match was personified with three games being decided on the eighteenth hole.

The team consisted of Caylin Million, Nixie Corcoran, Lilah Underdown, Lilly Ann Phillips, Alice Atkinson, Emily Holgate (Junior Captain), Willow Hixon and Jess Hood.

Well done to Lilah, Lilly Ann, Willow and Jess for winning their matches.

A special mention goes to Lilah, Willow and Jess for making winning starts on their county debuts.

A massive thanks to all the girls who were fantastic all day and it was such a pleasure to watch their golf. The respect and camaraderie shown by players of both teams was exceptional. Also, a thanks goes to Sorcha Bond who gave up her time to be a huge support to all the girls.

A shout out to Saltburn Golf Club who looked after us all day providing us with a fantastic course and excellent hospitality.

Lastly these matches could not go ahead without the support from all the parents and supporters plus our DCLGA Junior committee members, Christine Mair, Wendy Mabbott and Lesley Still a real big thank you to you all.
