JUNIOR GIRLS COACHING ASSESSMENT DAY SUNDAY 7 SEPTEMBER 2025 - SHARPLEY GOLF CLUB

The Durham Girls Junior coaching programme for 2025 / 2026 is being re structured to ensure all girls from beginner to elite level with or without handicaps are given the opportunity to be part of the programme.

To do this a Coaching Assessment Day has been arranged where girls can sign up for a one-hour session of their choice. During the session they will be assessed on their putting, long and short game. Each session will have a maximum of 6 girls.

The most important aspect of the assessment day is that there will be a relaxed and welcoming environment to give the girls the freedom to relax and enjoy the day, without the feeling of being put under pressure to perform.

The day is a fantastic opportunity for girls to become a part of the coaching programme and develop their talent to help ensure the future of girls’ golf in Durham.

After the assessment day girl’s will be offered a place on a coaching group appropriate to their playing ability to further develop their skills.

The 2024 assessment day was a great success with 21 girls attending which was followed by invitations to attend county coaching. At the county coaching the county coaches are aware that some girls have their own coaches and are respectful of this and reinforce techniques they have been taught. Girls attending the coaching have formed new friendships and sees them meeting up to play at each other’s clubs.
