10 year old Millie Hixon from Rockcliffe won the Under 12 category in the North of England Championship held at South Moor Golf Club at the end of July. An amazing achievement! Millie had rounds of 97, 88 and 90 and reduced her handicap to 16.6.
Certainly a name to watch for in the future since Millie still has another two years to play in the under 12 category.
Millie is in the Durham County Junior Elite Squad and should have played in the Northern County Junior Jamboree this year, a competition for girls with handicaps above 16. Sadly the Jamboree had to be cancelled and Millie has now missed the opportunity but I am sure we will see her playing in full County Junior Competitions next year.
