Vine Trophy

The day got off to a rather shaky start when our treasurer Marian got stuck in the lift at the clubhouse for twenty minutes. This thwarted her attempt to make an early start to get organised for the event. Fortunately Brian was able to quickly release her as soon as he arrived for work.

A large field of 50 teams took part in the Vine Trophy today. The course was in excellent condition considering the recent weather we've been having, although it was playing very long which was reflected in the scores.

Yet again this season teams from Chester-le-Street featured in the places with Chris Bonney, Joyce Jeary and Barbara Colling winning the Vine Trophy with 81 points, closely followed by a team from Blackwell Grange with 80 points. Another Chester-le-Street team were in third place.

Unfortunately one of the members of the team from Ramside that came 4th had not returned sufficient scores during the last twelve months so their vouchers went to the team from Houghton-le-Spring in 5th place.

The full results can be found here.

Many thanks to everyone at Durham City golf club who yet again made us feel very welcome.
