Viv Atkinson

It is with regret that we inform you that Viv Atkinson died yesterday, peacefully in hospital with her family by her side.

Viv was a member at Whitburn Golf Club from the early 1970s. She played regularly on the teams, was Lady and Club Secretary at Whitburn and moved on to both DCLGA committee as well as the Past Captain's Society where she served as both Secretary and President.

An active supporter of golf from Club to County for many years. She is remembered with fondness by her friends at Whitburn who recall the year when she and Anne Dunn played together in the Daily Mail Foursomes. That year they managed to get all the way to the finals but couldn't go as Viv had booked a holiday to Australia never thinking they would get that far.

Viv Atkinson's funeral will be held on Friday12th June at 10.30am at South Shields Crematorium then on to Whitburn Golf Club.
